Holding the fastest time all day Cory tried to push it a little faster to clinch the win, resulting in a bad crash. This boat then went on to win the next race of the series one month after crashing. On September 13, 2009 they went on to win the National Final Championship in the super modified class and also the 2009 Super Modified Title for the season.
